American National Bank of Minnesota

American National Bank of Minnesota

In May 1983, the doors opened for the first time for CreditAmerica Savings Company in Brainerd, Minnesota, as a regulated lender. In less than one year, April 1984, CreditAmerica Savings became chartered by the State of Minnesota as an Industrial Loan and Thrift Company with deposit-taking powers. At that time, a private insurance company insured our customers’ deposits. Growth came quickly, with a new office being opened in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in December 1984. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) began to insure our depositors’ funds in January 1986.

To better serve our customers, more central Minnesota locations were opened! 1986 saw Fergus Falls open in May, and Alexandria in June. Pequot Lakes followed in January of 1988, with Detroit Lakes at the end of that year. Three offices were opened in the 1990’s. The Walker office opened in March 1993. A second office in Brainerd opened in January of 1997, and the closest office to the Twin Cities, Elk River, opened in 1998. CreditAmerica Savings was one of the fastest-growing financial institutions in Minnesota!

August 1, 2001, was a historic occasion. After completing the application process, the CreditAmerica Savings state charter became a national bank charter. It was the birth of American National Bank of Minnesota! The results were the same locations with the same caring, professional service, but product selection was greatly expanded.

Today, there are seven offices available to all of the customers of American National. You can check with us, save with us and borrow from us! The tradition of providing exceptional service, meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations continues. We are, indeed, raising the standard!
