Bert & Helen LeBlanc Legacy Scholarship

Bert & Helen LeBlanc Legacy Scholarship

Helen LeBlanc is active in many family, church, and community activities and known for her outstanding culinary skills. Bert LeBlanc was a two-time winner of the Minnesota Conservation Farmer/Sportsman of the Year award, a fire warden, township board supervisor, and he worked with local lawmakers to improve Minnesota wildlife management. In 1961, they established LeBlanc’s Game Farm which today is LeBlanc’s Rice Creek and Recreation. They raised nine children together.

Established by their daughter, Colleen LeBlanc, the tribute to Helen and the late Bert “Bunny” LeBlanc stems from their long history of family education and natural conservation in the region. The areas of emphasis Colleen chose for this legacy scholarship are directly related to the values her mother and father passed on to her. “I want to pay homage to my parents dedication to family and conservation of natural resources by supporting the education of students who also value these things.”

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to Central Lakes College. I am honored and grateful to receive the Burt and Helen LeBlanc Legacy Scholarship my heart is full of gratitude for this financial assistance. Life has not been easy like most people enduring hardship, I have come through with battle scars and a full heart of empathy for those in need. Even though the path that has been placed be for me has been long and hard, it has made me strong and wise. I was a factory worker, a housekeeper, a caregiver, a youth supervisor, but most importantly a mother. And With my life’s wisdom, I am choosing to become a Family Social Worker. The empathy that will be given to others will be genuine and pure from a person with the knowledge of what it feels like to walked in their shoes and has come through it with a smile. With that, I give you my most ingenuous thank you, because of your support I will be able to work hard to accomplish this goal in hopes to make a difference to our community. Thank you
