Frisch Family Scholarship in memory of Carolyn Frisch

Frisch Family Scholarship in memory of Carolyn Frisch

This scholarship is in honor of Carolyn Frisch, who passed away on August 11, 2021 at the age of 91. It is no surprise that Carolyn, an elementary teacher by trade, was a life-long advocate for education and for Central Lakes College. Although her first connections with the college were through her husband, Ray Frisch, who taught English on the then Brainerd Community College campus, she spent the last 8 years of her own employment also working for the college in its Child Development Program. Even after retiring, she continued to cherish and support the campus and its mission. Coworkers were like family and she and Ray cherished these life-long friendships and the campus that had brought them all together. The college was a major part of her life for 6+ decades. She rightfully earned her own spot in the college’s history.

Carolyn was a role-model of service to both her workplace and her community. Always one to go above and beyond, Carolyn also volunteered for numerous campus activities, attended hundreds of performing arts productions, concerts, cultural happenings, and sporting events, and even participated herself in summer theatre. She was also highly involved in several community clubs, organizations, and nonprofits in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Whatever she took on (and it was always a lot) she gave 150% commitment and heart to it and inspired others to do the same. In this sense, her legacy lives on, not just in the work she did but also in the lives she touched and the ripples created. Her family hopes this scholarship will inspire you to do the same.
