Robert and LaVonne Danzl
Robert “Bob” Danzl married LaVonne Habstritt on Sept. 9, 1950 and had seven daughters and one son. He worked in the sheet metal trade throughout his life. Bob was employed as a sheet metal estimator for Thelen Heating and Roofing in Brainerd. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Eagles and Moose clubs, LOE and the Minnesota Friends of the Orphan North.
Bob was always interested in helping students get into a tradesman’s job of their choice. After his death, LaVonne, with their family and a dedicated group of friends, over a period of nine years raised the scholarship money by hosting annual golf tournaments very successfully. The proceeds are divided among students each school year that are entering a trade program at Central Lakes College in Brainerd or Staples.

“I am grateful to be the recipient of the Robert Danzl Memorial Scholarship. Thank you for this generous contribution towards the advancement of my education. I feel very fortunate to have received this award. This will help me to make the most of my education years. As I complete my first year at CLC Staples, I will use this generous donation to make the most of the next year while pursuing my Robotics degree. I hope with this award I can make use of my education to make advances in the industry and hopefully the lives of others.”

“I would like to thank you for your scholarship at Central Lakes College. This will be my last semester at CLC and I will be receiving my two year degree in Robotics/Automated Systems and Mechatronics. As a non-traditional student (35 years old and single parent of three children), I am very excited about my scholarship because it will help take a lot of stress off me in my time in school by letting me focus on my academics.”

“Thank you so much for the scholarship award. I’ve been very nervous about the cost of tuition and tools needed in order to complete the Robotics program. I’m trying to get through college with as little debt or loans as possible. Your generous support is so greatly appreciated. The feeling I got when I opened the award letter is definitely a feeling I want to pay forward in the future.”
